Spring Break ’11

We made it to the beach safely, and boy is it gorgeous down here! We left yesterday around 10:45 and got here at 4. The drive was really nice. We didn’t encounter too much traffic, but I can definitely say that the gulf doesn’t seem to be struggling for tourism because Emerald Coast Parkway (the main drag) was really busy.
Since we got here, we’ve hung out at the beach by taking a nice long walk down towards the inlet (our condo is situated at the end of the beach right before you get to the inlet where the gulf feeds into the bay), had a great meal at AJ’s Oyster Bar, and watched a flick before going to bed.
Jetty East actually one of the coolest locations I’ve ever been at since coming down to Destin. The reason I say that is because it’s right on the edge of the beach where the beach meets the inlet (where the ocean goes into the bay). And that location is really cool because there’s no large condo building next to the inlet, there’s just this wide open space of gorgeous sand, which makes the beach very uncrowded. Here’s a pic of what I mean.
So here I am now, sitting on the balcony of our condo, soaking up the sounds of the beach and eating my awesome blueberry muffin and clementine, and of course, drinking my coffee. Here’s the view from our balcony.
I’m not sure what’s on the agenda today, but I know frisbee, catch, and tennis are going to be on the list. The water is a little too cold to swim in for my taste, but I will get plenty of sun and relaxation time.
